You can allow remote access to your network through the Sophos Connect client using an IPsec or SSL VPN connection.
The Sophos Connect client is VPN software that runs on Microsoft Windows 7 SP2 and later, and Mac OS 10.12 and later. It establishes highly secure, encrypted VPN tunnels for off-site employees.
You can update to the latest version of Sophos Connect client on Backup & Firmware > Pattern updates.
You can download the Sophos Connect client by clicking Download client on the IPsec (remote access) page. The download contains the following files:
- Sophos Connect Admin (scadmin(legacy).msi): The application allows you to edit the .scx and .tgb configuration files used in IPsec remote access VPN. Alternatively, you can edit the configuration on the IPsec remote access page and export the connection.
- Sophos Connect client software for macOS devices (Sophos Connect_1.4_(IPsec).pkg): It supports only IPsec remote access VPN. Users can download the client from the user portal.
- Sophos Connect client software for Windows devices (SophosConnect_2.0_(IPsec_and_SSLVPN).msi): It supports both IPsec and SSL VPN. It also supports the provisioning file, which you configure separately. Users can download the client from the user portal.
Alternatively, you can provide the Sophos Connect client installation file to your users.

Users can import SSL VPN connections into the Sophos Connect client by double-clicking the provisioning (pro) file that you provide to them. Currently, the provisioning file doesn't import the IPsec remote access configuration files into the Sophos Connect client.
For legacy SSL VPN clients, users need to sign in to the user portal, download the ovpn file, and import it. For instructions on how to create the file and distribute it to users, see Sophos Connect provisioning file.

The Device provides various options for user authentication. All the users are authenticated before they are provided with access to network resources. User authentication can be performed using a local database, Active Directory, LDAP, RADIUS, TACACS, eDirectory, NTLM or a combination of these. The Device also supports Single Sign On (SSO) for transparent authentication, whereby Windows credentials can be used to authenticate and a user has to sign in only once to access network resources. SSO can be used in Active Directory and Citrix or Terminal Services environments.
You can authenticate with Device using Captive Portal, Authentication Clients for Windows, Linux, Macintosh, Android and iOS platforms or Single Sign On (SSO).

CISCOTM VPN Client is software developed by CISCO to establish encrypted VPN tunnels with highly secure remote connectivity for remote workers. Click Install to install the SF-related configuration for Cisco VPN Client in your iOS Device. Import this configuration into the Client so that it can communicate with the SF Device.

Click Download Sophos Outlook Add-in to download and install the SPX Add-in. The SPX Add-in simplifies the encryption of messages that contain sensitive or confidential information leaving the organization. The Add-in integrates seamlessly with the user’s Microsoft Outlook software, making it easy for users to encrypt messages through Sophos Firewall Email Protection.

- Unzip the files to a temporary folder.
- For an interactive install, run setup.exe (users will be prompted for input).
- For an unattended install, the prerequisites are:
- Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 (both 32 and 64-bit) versions are supported.
- Microsoft Outlook 2007 SP3, 2010 or 2013 (both 32 and 64-bit) versions are supported.
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile.
