  • With macOS Big Sur, Apple re-engineered the entire macOS UI to be more in line with that of the iPhone and iPad. The strikingly unMac-like Dock icons may’ve thrown you off guard at first, but the spacious-looking native apps with full-height sidebars and the translucent menu bar are undoubtedly examples of great design.

Some would argue there is nothing better than a good kebab or Macca’s feed to help cure that morning hangover.

But what if the two could be morphed into one?

One Aussie bloke has done just that, taking his favourite kebab to the next level, and the internet wholeheartedly approves, saying it looks “better than the original”.

Big call, yes, but when his wife posted a snap of the dinner he made, Facebook users bombarded the post begging for the recipe alongside comments including, “That looks incredible,” “Ultimate pub meal”, “That looks better than the real deal” and several saying “OMG yum”.

He christened it the “McKebab” and according to his wife the homemade meal is affordable and easy to make.

“Hubby made dinner tonight The BigMac Kebab or as he calls it the McKebab. Cheap, easy to make and really yum,” she wrote alongside a series of images.

If your Mac is more than a few years old and you try to install Big Sur on it you will hit a few hurdles - the first being the fact that Software Update simply won't let you install the new version. Maybe you want all the goodness of a Big Mac but in a big cozy bowl that you can shovel into your face with a fork. Enter: the Big Mac salad. The addition of the French fry 'croutons' is a genius touch. This is a great way to get all the deliciousness of a Big Mac with a few extra veggies, you know, for health purposes. It's the coolest hack and the best way to use up leftover buns. And, of course, it wouldn't be a Big Mac spinoff without that special sauce! Want more Big Mac–inspired dishes.

Typically, doner kebabs are made with thinly sliced meat, cooked on a vertical spit, wrapped in pita or flatbread and topped with salad.

However, to make the McKebab, the Aussie man mixed 500g of beef mince meat (or you can use lamb) with sausage mince and barbecue seasoning for flavour.

He then shaped the meat to make a large, round loaf which he cooked in the oven for 40 minutes at 180C.

After it was cooked through, he removed it from the oven, thinly sliced it as you would kebab meat and placed it in Lebanese bread.

He then added cheese, Heinz special burger sauce and lettuce before wrapping it, just like a kebab.

He opted for the beef mince to best replicate the flavour of the Big Mac, but any meat, such as lamb or pork, will do.

And as for the “special burger sauce”, that’s been doing the rounds on social media since 2017, with customers saying it tastes very similar the McDonald’s sauce.

If there’s one thing that I’ve been craving, it’s a really good burger. Most of my favourite takeaway options use a burger sauce that any store bought brand can’t really match up to, so I have made my own version using Haynes Gourmet Hot Relish. There are so many condiments to choose from, but a burger sauce is the one that gives you that instant takeaway flavour. It’s great in the actual burger but also there will be enough to dip your chips into.

So next time you are having a barbecue or Friday night craving, whip up a simple but delicious sauce to add to your homemade burger. I could go hotter and obviously feel free to adjust according to your own palate. However, if you want to kick it up a notch, add some of your favourite jalapeños too.

Ingredients(Burgers)

  • 4 Beef Patties (85g/3oz each)
  • 2 Burger Buns
  • 4 American Cheese Slices
  • 1/2 White Onion Chopped

Ingredients(burger Sauce)

  • 80g Mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 tsp Haynes Gourmet Hot Relish
  • 5 round slices of finely chopped gherkin
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped sweet whote onion
  • Pinch of paprika
  • Pinch of salt

Method (Sauce)

1.Add the finely chopped onion and gherkins to a bowl.

2.Add the rest of the burger sauce ingredients, mix well and refrigerate until ready to use.

Method (Burger)

1.Slice the burger buns and place them in a dry pan on a low heat for a few minutes until they are golden inside. Remove and place to one side.

2.In the pan, add a tablespoon of oil and cook the chopped white onion on a medium heat. Keep stirring. As they begin to colour and darken add a small drop of water to deglaze the pan. Turn the heat down to medium/low. Let the water evaporate and do this again. The onion should soften and take on a darker colour. Remove and put to one side.

3.Place the beef patties in a dry pan on a medium heat and season with salt. Cook as instructed on the packaging.

4.Just before they are ready, add a slice on cheese on both patties and top them with the cooked onion. If you have a lid, add a small drop of water to create some steam and put the lid on for a minute or so. The cheese will melt across the beef.

5.Remove the burger sauce from the fridge and assemble the burger. Serve immediately.
